Taking the ferry to Martha's Vineyard from Woods Hole is very easy depending on the time of year you happen to visit. When I first vacationed in Falmouth it was two weeks after Labor Day, we drove on a weekday to Woods Hole and parked at the small lot at the ferry, bought our tickets and headed over to the Vineyard. When trying to travel the same route in August on a Friday afternoon I was required to park in one of the 9 satelitte parking lots (mine was rougly a 10 minute ride from the ferry) and then travel aboard a shuttle bus to the Ferry port in Woods Hole.
Beware that any time during the normal summer season the ferry is extremely crowded and I advise making advance reservation. If you are interested in taking your car across I am told you want to reserve weeks maybe months in advance. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

This was one of the things I wanted to do while on Cape Cod, but, unfortunately, ran out of time and good weather in which to do it! However, I got several recommendations while I was there, and I heard that this was a good cruise to take, with a near 100% success rate for seeing whales on every cruise.
Cruises are $20 each at this time, and depart several times a day. Reservations are recommended. Leave a Comment

We were just about to get a sprinkle when I took this picture, so I like the eerie lighting in contrast to the white paint on the lighthouse.
The inside also has a gift shop with lighthouse goodies, and tours are given up into the light itself. Leave a Comment Directions: Follow the signs for the Highland Light on the main highway.
