Favorite thing: The working fishing boats share the dock space with the tourist boats in Hyannis. It makes it interesting to see the contrasts and have conversations with the men who operate both types of sea faring vessels.
Favorite thing: The artists are available to chat at the artists' shacks along the dock area of the waterfront. They will read or talk on cell phones until you come by to entertain them as much as they will entertain you !
Favorite thing: So many options on the waterfront around Hyannis. You could also rent one of these large boats if you have a fundraiser to plan or an enormous family reunion to entertain. Lots of good ideas on this waterfront.
Favorite thing: The waterfront park has some interesting design elements. There is a nautical theme to the space and tall poles have buoy markers poking toward the sky. Information about the events around the waterfront and various other local "scoop" can be found posted on the skiffs or rowboats which are standing on end in a couple of locations around the perimeter of the park. Rather a clever way to display their bulletin boards.
Favorite thing: President Kennedy spent his summers on the shores of Hyannis and there are many reminders of his times here. There is a Kennedy Museum on the Main Street about mid-way through the business district. The whale in front of the museum is designed with a theme of PT-109, which of course was John Kennedy's boat in combat. The whale sports a purple heart on a ribbon around its neck...symbolizing Kennedy's award for having been injured in his heroic incident. You can also find the church the Kennedys worshipped in on the access road behind Main Street.
