  • Spend the Day At Nauset Beach

The beach is about a mile from the bed and breakfast, Academy Place, in which I stayed. Nauset Beach is right on the Atlantic Ocean and is part of the National Seashore which means it is open to the public. There is a fee for parking. You are allowed to use your boogie boards here and there is surfing and fishing. Lifeguards are on duty. There is...

  • Nauset Beach

Arrive early in the morning and walk the beach at sunrise. Or bring the whole crew and spend the day lounging on the sand. Or come by around dinner-time and have a picnic on the beach. Nauset is beautiful any time of day.If you do plan on spending the day in the dead of summer, know that the parking lot can fill up by 11am, so come early or ride...

  • Take a paddle

This boat rental business was so colorful and perfectly located. There is a dock, boat ramp, boat sales & rentals...boat tours available... all next door to a wonderful old inn right on the water. This is Orleans...

  • Her name is SEA GYPSY

Isn't that a great name for her? I'll definately have to get back there to take a sail on her. I'd like to own one like this for private parties. Or...to live on for the summer! How bout it? Too much fun!!!If you dbl click on the pic ... you will see the detail so much better.

  • Funky boat ride

This little water craft really caught my eye. It is so beautifully done...interesting painting at the aft section. Wish I could have seen it under sail. I wondered if it was a party boat for rent. dbl click on photo in order to appreciate the details of this little jewel.

  • A Kayak blast!!

One more view of those marvelous kayaks... such vibrant colors!! Just classic. They seemed to be placed just right for a photo....it would almost be a shame to move them.

  • Colorful Kayaks

What a line up of color! Guarded by the big cardboard geese...can you see them? It's part of the name of the business... what a great day..to rent a kayak and paddle around in the sunshine..

  • Tour the bay

This little craft takes folks out around the waterways for a cooling ride ....while the Labrador retreiver stands guard over the docks.

Orleans Restaurants

  • The Local's Favorite

When we were staying with friends in the general area of Barnstable, Cape Cod, they took us here for our departing dinner, being one of their most favorite, and we can see why! The restaurant is homey and the food superb, but not inexpensive.Extensive wine list. See the webstie for menu.LUNCH 11:30am–3:00pmDINNER 5:00pm–9:00pm (Fri. & Sat....

  • Good Chowder, Cute Decor

In my search for the chowder to outdo the chowder at O'Dowds in Roundstone, Ireland, I have put on a few pounds and have become quite the maven. So far the chowder at Land Ho is the only one that comes close and I have had a lot of chowder since being here in Massachusetts for the past month. In spite of the fact that, aside from the chowder, the...

  • At Nauset Beach

The infamous snack shack located at Nauset Beach, Liam's is legendary on the Cape for it's fried seafood and i'ts incredible onion rings. As far as beach snack shack's go, Liam's has all of the staples: burgers, hot dogs, water, soda, shakes, and ice cream. But if you're really going to indulge at Liam's, fried is the way to go: clam strip rolls,...

  • Good food + location

Mahoney's is a little pricey, but the food is good. We had littlenecks ($7) for an appetizer, with horseradish sauce - good and spicey. For dinner we had grilled tuna and lobster pasta. The tuna was grilled with ginger and garlic, and served medium to my order. The lobster and seafood pasta had big chunks of lobster. This plus a couple of...

  • The Perfect New England Bakery

I actually think that the Cottage Street Bakery may be the closest thing to pure perfection that I can think of. It's a snug, wallpapered bakery that makes some of the best muffins, pastries, and cakes on earth. They even offer breakfast in the morning. Everyone realizes this, so it's usually teeming with people. Brave them - it's worth it. The...

  • A Great Place to Enjoy your food!

I had the fish and chips and my wife had the Seafood Medley. The kids dined on chicken fingers and of course we had cheesecake!! It was an excellent meal, with great atmosphere and good company. The waiters were prompt, courteous, and really cared about us. I highly recommend this eatery!

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

One of my favorite things to do all over the world is to watch the sunset. I am never alone doing this and certainly not here. We went over to Rock Harbor and there was a huge crowd. They even had a little band playing music.
