Plymouth Bay winery
  • Tip Rating:
  • Plymouth Bay Winery is right by the waterfront. . . offering Cranberry wine!! They also carry wonderful raspberry wines, and blueberry wines....lots of good stuff. You can taste before you buy. We brought home several bottles to serve with Thanksgiving dinner. Some of the berry wines are almost like a liquer. You can mix 1 part cranberry wine, 2 parts raspberry wine, and top with a splash of seltzer....interesting! Maybe a squeeze of lime would be good.

A bottle of wine is approximately $7 - $8, which is very reasonable for a nice fresh wine. All are bottled in the current year.

Cranberry Bay Winery: Shopping for Cranberry wines
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are a few wineries in Plymouth. We've only explored one. Nothing is very far away...so you could probably cover all of them in a day, if you didn't want to see anything else. The waterfront strip is filled with interesting things to see and do.

Old North St. Tea & Curiousity Shop: Tea Shop
This is an interesting little shop with a wide range of loose leaf teas as well as items used for the making of tea (infusers etc).

They also have a array of other items available for sale including hand made soaps.

They are within walking distance of Plymouth Rock, and allow for you to sample some of the teas.

PLYMOUTH BAY WINERY: SITTING BY THE DOCK OF THE BAY
This is a family winery right on the waterfront in Plymouth Bay. What name do you call such a winery. Hey! Plymouth Bay Winery.
All the wines are made on location and are a little bit on the interesting side with names like Cranberry Bay, Drydock White, and Widow's Walk to mention a few. If you go to Plymouth, stop by. They have free wine tastings, and they do ship anywhere.

The desired bottle of wine to buy is the Cranberry Bay. This is the perfect wine to serve with turkey and stuffing. Made from real cranberries with a medium sweet-tart fruity taste. Gobble, gobble.

The best part is the price. Most of the wines are under $8.00 US.

There's a good choice of shops at Plimoth Plantation: gift shop, book shop, gourmet, etc. Check the full list on their website. I've selected only the 'Local Craft' for this tip as my favourite was the Crafts Shop selling reproduction pottery. There's loads to choose from and it's hard to make up your mind, especially that the pottery comes in various sizes and colours. I bought a mid-size jug for just over $20 (if I remember well) plus a few smaller items.

Plymouth Bay Winery: A wine you won't forget
Wonder what to bring from your trip to Plymouth? Well, it sure should be a bottle of their unique cranberry wine! Or raspberry wine... or blueberry wine... You can taste them before you made up your mind! Check their website for more info on their wines. They are all 'young' wines, made on location and bottled in the current year. And very reasonably priced: $6-$9 per bottle. They will ship their wines for you anywhere in the U.S.
They also sell various wine drinking accessories. I bought a nice dolphin-shaped bottle cap, it comes useful when I need to close off an unfinished bottle of wine...
