A serious dining experience is to be had in this converted 19th century Captains house.
As soon as you enter, you know you're in for something very special. An open hallway/ foyer greets you with a big open fireplace to your left, a few seats and magazines scattered around for your comfort while you wait for your table.
To the right is what is known as the tavern - a small room with the bar and three tables. Heavy, old, dark wood dominates this room with a cushioned bench running along one wall for diners. Again a fireplace is located in one wall (not used) and with leaded windows, there is a feeling of time having stopped still (except for the creature comforts we would expect!). Two other small dining rooms are located downstairs (4 or 5 tables in each) and there are two larger rooms (less intimate) to be found upstairs. Most have big open fires should there be a need for them.
The menu is perfectly balanced in terms of choice and limited to approx 6 or 7 items per course and they pride themselves in an extensive wine list. Service is the right balance between friendliness and distance.
It always features in the 'Best 5 Cape Cod restaurants' list by New York food journalists.
Favorite Dish: It was difficult to chose - generally they have 2 red meats, 1 or 2 white meats, fish and/or seafood plus a veggie option. There are also 2 or 3 specials.
Warning - the cheese plate at the end is enormous and would have fed 3 people!

Located just off the wharf, it seemed a good place for a lunch. The food was good, but for 2 adults and 2 children, $49.00 does seem a bit high, even in Ptown for sandwiches. I would recommend a less expensive place for a quick lunch.

Oh, there are so many. And they're good for different things. I LOVE Cafe Edwige. Stylish, wonderful food a bit on the pricey side. But everything is in PTown. Lobster Pot has the best clam chowder I've ever had. Governor Bradford seems to treat the lobsters most tenderly.
Cafe Edwige or Martin House is where you take someone you're looking to impress, who is used to the finer things in commestibles. Did I spell that correctly?
The Lobster Pot is on the water, and you have a water view from almost every seat. Just don't go right at lunch or dinner. Long lines, my friend.
Favorite Dish: That's too hard. Probably some daily special at Cafe Edwige. I have different things I get everywhere.
Usually a lobster at Governor Bradford. Cafe Blase is tops for people watching, has a mean lobster roll and the best mint iced tea on the Cape.

A very casual seafood restaurant. It was a unique dining experience. A typical New England style clam bake atmosphere. Has fresh local lobster, oysters, and clams.
The price was very reasonable
Favorite Dish: 1 1/2 lb. Lobster

"Bet ya can't go in without buying something. " is their motto and by what I saw through the window I think the are correct. I would have loved to go in and sample the "treats" they were selling. Maybe on my next trip!!

The cheapest of Provincetown (which is an expensive town). The tables outside are directly on the beach (but not really a beautiful viewpoint)
Favorite Dish: Pizza
