Abe & Louie's: Beef is their specialty
by paulapes
Very good food, very busy restaurant, but great service! Most of our kids had some form of steak, but I tried the lamb chops and they were delicious. I had french onion soup for a starter also and we shared the vegetables ordered, family style. The food was delicious, but very pricey! Again, it was a splurge for our anniversary.
I loved the lamb chops....not something I cook at home. I do this all the time....go into a restaurant where they specialize in something (in this case, beef) and I order something other than the house specials. Well this time I didn't regret it at all! :-)

Rock Bottom Brewery: A brewpub at the mall
by donpaul77
UPDATE: Unfortunately for beer lovers in the region, the Rock Bottom in Braintree is now closed. I am crushed :(I am very lucky to be living with a ten minute drive of a good brewpub. The Rock Bottom Brewery and restaurant features 5 or 6 year round craft-brews, as well as several seasonal "brewer's choice" beers. Although Rock Bottom is a chain of brew pubs, the head office gives the brewer a fair bit of leeway in the creation of the beers, especially with the "brewer's choice" selections. They seem very committed to the brewing side of the operation. You can order a sampling of the breweries six year round beers, if you can't make up your mind. I usually sit in the lounge area. It is spacious and is adorned with several hi-def tv's for sports watching, but this place isn't about sports and it's not really about food either. It's all about the beer. You can get 64oz jugs of beer to go...
Venezia: Waterfront Dining
by donpaul77
The Venezia is a fine Italian waterfront restaurant that is tucked away in a small neighborhood in Dorchester. The decor is simple and elegant, yet it is the view of the harbor and Boston that make the dining environment special. The place is surrounded by floor to ceiling picture windows. It's a wonderful place for special occasions, and they are well able to handle larger parties. The wait staff is very professional. Although it is slightly more expensive than your typical Italian restaurant, the view is certainly not typical either.
Seafood lovers could try the Ciopinno Al La Venezia. Listen to this:Filets of Salmon, swordfish, haddock, shucked clams, scallops, shrimp, lobster, sauteed with saffron, tomato, shallots, garlic and served over freshly seared bread:)

Jake's: Great waterfront seafood!
by donpaul77
Jake's may be the best place for seafood south of Boston. It's located in Hull, right across from the beautiful Carousel (see my tip on this) and is a south shore tradition. It has a fish market, a tiny bar, and a good sized dinning area. It's casual and decorated with a lot cool nautical antiques. A nice time to go is near sunset, and sit in the back room along the window. The sunset is lovely.*Jake's is closed during the winter.
The last dish i had there was scrod cooked in parchment with veggies. It was a nice simple and healthy way to prepare fish. I usually go with a broiled or baked haddock or cod. The menu is 90% seafood, but there are a couple of non-seafood items for those freaks who don't like fish. !!Make sure you ask what market price is if you are going to order lobster!!They also have a raw bar with oysters, little neck clams and PEI mussels. They serve Smuttynose on tap,...
Bartley's Burgers: In Harvard Don't Miss Bartley's Burgers!
by JeffreyLangBoyd
Very fun restaurant for me and my 12 year old son. If you are spending time in the Harvard area you will want to go there provided you like simple hamburger/fries and don't mind very crowded conditions. The menu changes continually depending on the politics of the day with burgers named after the most appropriate politician. We had nice conversations with two individuals who were also sitting at our table. One was a person who had lived in the Harvard area for 20 years and knew Mr. Bartley quite well. The second was a third year Phd. student at MIT. Both were friendly and good to talk to.My son and I are both Conan O'Brien fans and enjoyed the big picture of Conan as well as all the others. Conan went to school at Harvard so it felt very authentic. All and all an excellent time!
Burgers are fine; probably a lot like what you would make at home only at home the waitresses won't shout the...

Krazy Karry's: Krazy Karry's; Burgers and inventive spelling
by KarenandCory
he owner of Krazy Karry's is very attentive and even a little quirky. Chances are good that he'll stop by your table to say hello and he just might ask you, "Are these are the best burgers you've ever had?" Back when the restaurant first opened, I overheard the owner asking an informant (not sure if it was an employee or a customer) what the word on the street was regarding his new restaurant. Not a particularly funny question, it was the delivery that struck me as hilarious. For some reason I was reminded of that guy on Sesame Street asking, "Would you like to buy an "O"? " I knew from that moment on that Krazy Karry's was my kind of place. Arlington is a town rich in restaurants but poor in personality. Donald Buehler of Krazy Karry's is a refresing addition to this town.Krazy Karry's fills a gap in Arlington, a town with no fast food or decent places to get a hamburger.Krazy Karry's...
Durgin Park: New England specialties---the best
by paulapes
Durgin-Park goes back to Revolutionary days, but the era of fame for its chowders, Indian puddings, apple pan dowdy, johnny cake, and New England boiled dinners started around 130 years ago when John Durgin, in partnership with Eldridge Park, a livery man, and John G. Chandler, a dry goods merchant, took over. The restaurant's theme followed to this day was decided upon then by these old Yankees, that the best advertising is plenty of food on the table. And that's certainly the case! Bring your appetite!
Corn bread and clam chowder! Of course the lobsters are great too (did I mention this is my favorite food?)
Satuit Tavern: A down to earth seaside tavern
by donpaul77
The Satuit Tavern is a good place to get reasonably priced seafood, just outside of Scituate center. The place is very simple, with an unassuming atmosphere, decorated with some cool black and white photos of ocean scenes. The ceiling is high and paneled in beechwood. Like the website says, its a very clean restaurant!
It's all about seafood here. Baked, broiled or fried, the seafood is fresh and faithfully prepared.
Spice Root Modern Indian Cuisine: Do eat good Indo-Pakistani Food
by Faiza-Ifrah
We explored architectural treasures of Williamstown one day and had a dinner at this excellent quality Indian restaurant. It serves buffet lunch and a la carte dinner. It offers all kinds of Indian food.An open, attractive, tangerine interior with two full bay windows and a 16-foot, L-shaped bar, Spice Root is a comfortable setting for lunch or dinner for two or a group. We were the first family to enter the restaurant at 5 pm, which opens for the dinner after a brief interval. However, within 30 minutes it was jammed pack.Timings:Dinner Every Day 5:00 - 10PM Lunch Tuesday - Sunday 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM
From Seafood Menu: Shrimp Vindaloo (extremely spicy)From Tandoori Menu: Chicken Tandoori, Seekh Kabobs, chicken tikka. This is basically a favorite with all people of Pakistani origin. From Chicken Menu: chicken biryani, even though I cook it better at home than any body else - this is...

Friendly's: reasonable and friendly
by Gloriann
They specialize in all sorts of ice cream in this chain of restaurants, but all of the food that I ate there was good. We stayed in a motel closeby one restaurant in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and ate there every morning for breakfast. We also ate there at least two other times for other meals. The name Friendly is very appropriate, since the atmosphere was just that - Friendly!
It is hard to say since I liked everything that I ate there, but I did love eating breakfast. The ice cream is very good too!
