Luggage and bags:
It depends what type of trip you're making. Salem is a regular stop on bus tours of New England, particularly during fall foliage season.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: You'll need comfortable walking shoes; a lot of the downtown area has been paved into a pedestrian mall for the benefit of tourists.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Nothing unusual here; there are plenty of chain drug stores and local hospitals in the Salem area.
Photo Equipment: You'll want to take lots of pictures of the historic buildings and architecture. The neighboring towns of Peabody and Danvers are crammed with malls along Route 1, Route 114 and Endicott Street, so you shouldn't have a problem getting camera equipment.
Get dressed up for Halloween!
