Salem is approximately 20 miles from Boston and Logan Airport. There is commuter rail service to Boston-North Station, but please remember that it runs much less frequently than Boston's 'T' subway system. 24 hour taxi service is available.
During tourist season, trolley service is available around town. There is a large municipal parking garage above the Museum Place Mall. Daytime parking is difficult and expensive, because Salem has a large courthouse and during the day there are many people in court or working at law firms who take all the parking places. And that's in addition to all the people who park near the train station to commute to work in Boston!
