Along the backroads of Saugus, miles from the hustle and bustle, there's a gang of wild vicious cows that roam the countryside. Make noise while hiking, to let the cows know you are in the area. If surprised, they are known to attack. If you are unlucky enough to stumble upon a cow and her calf, stretch your arms out to make yourself look bigger and slowly back away. Always use caution if you are to wander off the beaten path in Saugus.
THEY'LL BITE YOUR FREAKIN' HEAD OFF, MAN!
This was a sign on one of the levees alongside of the mill. I don't know exactly why it was posted as 'no tresspassing', but it might have been to keep people from wearing down the levee, or to avoid them falling off into the marsh on either side of it.
You can see how choked with vegetation the area is (there was a dock nearby this point), and you can see some flowers which I think are probably Queen Anne's Lace along the side of the dike.
