A Gilded Age "Cottage" with a mere 44 rooms designed by the famous McKim, Mead & White firm for the Choate family. You can take a house tour with a local guide and/or wander the gardens, which range from a woodland walkway to more formal options including Rose and Chinese Gardens. My favorite pick -- the walk way with water running gently down the middle.

A trip to Stockbridge is not a trip unless you stop over at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Every American knows Norman Rockwell. His paintings are world famous. This museum features many of his magazine cover paintings & controversial paintings, including The Four Freedoms, The Marriage License, Murder in Mississippi, & Girl at Mirror.
Also on view is Norman Rockwell's studio, a 2 min walk from the main museum building.
I have never had the chance to see his paintings upclose until I came to his museum. I now have a newfound respect for his artwork & life.
Hours vary but either 10am-4pm or 10am-5pm. $12/adults. $7/students. Kids under 18 FREE!! Paid audio tour available. Main building is wheelchair accessible.
