To my surprise, there's some nice spots along the Huron River between Dexter and Ann Arbor for flyfishing. Smallmouth bass put up a fun fight thru the fall and decent holes are accessable from the roadside and area parks.

Equipment: Depending on water level, hip waders are fine, use a 4 to 6 wt rod and the shorter the better. Typical wet and dry flies, I use about any Mayfly pattern year 'round. Adams and caddis are typical fare.

Downtown is wonderful. The city is really quite clean, and abounds in trees & plants. Lots of interesting shops and a great variety of cuisine for a small city.
