    To Make Life Comfortable

by KimberlyAnn Updated Apr 7, 2008

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring a raincoat and a medium to warm jacket a swell as your summer clothing, you never can tell what might be needed.
If you are coming in the winter, bring boots and warm clothing.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Insect repellent is highly recommended for all seasons except winter.

Photo Equipment: This is the same as on my Houghton page---This depends on where you go, and what your purpose of photography is. If you were making the trek to Isle Royal (see my Houghton Off the Beaten path section; or my two travelogues on Visiting Isle Royal National Park, found on my Copper Harbor pages), a telephoto or zoom lens would be an asset. In Isle Royal you might get lucky, you might see a moose, and you shouldn’t get too close, these animals can run you down faster than you can imagine. Get that photo the safe way. A polorizer filter is important if you want to get photos with the water as all or part of the subject.

Luggage and bags: I'd plan for hiking... there are lots of opportunities.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Prepare for wind, cold during season.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Nothing unusual.

Photo Equipment: Definately bring binoculars & camera! Lots of uses for both close-up and long-range photos.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Bug repellant and skin protection, sun glasses, hiking boots, water bottle/canteen.

Miscellaneous: List of books and collectibles you want to buy.

    Packing List

by jaeda Written Oct 5, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring warm clothing no matter what time of year you go!
Temps can range from the 90's (Farenheit) in the summer to -15 in the winter!
    ice skates
    snow boots
    a warm hat
a sweater for the cooler nights

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: If you plan on doing some back-packing:
    bug spray
    Poison Ivy-repellent

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: The water here is definately much colder than most people are used to! Chances are you won't last for long in Lake Superior! Try Portage or Torch Lake instead!
A warm blanket for sitting outdoors.
In the Winter you can participate in just about any winter activity you enjoy! If you don't have the hardware there are local shops where you can rent skiis, snoboards, snowmobiles, etc.
