Upon walking in, you'll feel a bit as though you've stepped back in time. The neighborhood is probably not the best one to be found in too late at night, but it's worth venturing to in the daylight hours for the food. There are many interesting collections on the walls and in the tables. You'll also have to stick around for a round of old fashioned Feather Bowling!
Favorite Dish: The bowl of steamed mussels is even more than a big eater can handle! Prices are quite reasonable and if you have an Entertainment Book you'll find a half-off coupon to use.
I know little of Belgium, Belgian Food, Belgian Culture, etc. Yet, Cadieux Cafe filled me in to a little extent. This was a unique dining experience. The unassuming exterior conceals the festivities happening inside. I remember a simple menu based on mussels, steamed with different sauces if you prefer. I am not a beer drinker, but they have an extensive list of Belgian beers to choose from. After all it's neither the mussels nor the beer that makes this experience quite fantastic, it's the featherbowling lanes in the backroom which takes you out of time and space.
Favorite Dish: Steamed mussels, well, I am coming from a culture where mussels are fried. Culinarily, I am very subjectively conditioned here. I can at least say this, I ate them all and they remained in the stomach. Regardless though, the point is Cadieux Cafe should be visited for the fine time travel experience.
