As we were meeting Sandra (VT member Hundertmorgen from Essen Germany) and her friend Richard for lunch, Hans and I scouted out some restaurants in Greektown and decided that NIKI'S GREEKTOWN PIZZA had what we were looking for - a great outside dining area with beautiful hanging plants, an old but cozy inside and a great Greek menu reasonably priced.
We were seated at a big ole booth, ordered drinks and scanned the menu. Sandra ordered the #1 Combination Plate - Slices of Gyro and Shish Ka-bob served with tomatoes and onions, rice Piilaf and sauce, french fries & Greek Pita bread ($12.95). Richard ordered the #4 Combination Plate - Niki's Greek Trio - Spinach pie, Mousaka and Pastitsio, served with rice Pilaf and sauce. ($10.95).
Hans ordered Chicken Shish Ka-bob - marinated Chicken Breast skewered with Green peppers, Rice Pilaf & sauce. ($8.95). I ordered Shish Ka-bob - Marinated Pork Tenderloin skewered with green peppers and onions, rice pilaf & sauce ($8.95).
Everyone was happy and satisfied with their meals.
Niki's offers other great Greek dishes - Saganaki - Tzatziki - Gyros - Mousaka - Pastitsio - Spinach pie and for dessert Baklava
Not in the mood for Greek - they also offer Fish& Chips - Spaghetti - Chicken Parmesan - BBQ Ribs - Sandwiches - Burgers - Pizza - Salads
Hours:
Sunday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Friday & Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Nikki's pizza place in downtown Detroit is a great place to get a pizza. The restaurant does not have a great ambience and it would look like a warehouse with lots of tables. But make no mistake about it. The pizzas are delicious. Its slightly pricey compared to the other pizza joints but the taste of the pizza here is worth the extra price.
Favorite Dish:
The Veggie Pizza (4 square slices) is one of the tastiest veggie pizzas you can get. Its better than the pizzas at Buddys, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Ceasars and the likes.
Nikki's Greek Pizza and Salads.
I LOVE this pizza. I don't know exactly why I think this is the best pizza I've ever eaten but it just is. Well except for eating pizza in Italy but that's just because I was in Italy!
Favorite Dish:
Pizza of course!
