Expect harassment if you are younger, especially if you are carrying or have consumed alcohol. Never drink and drive regardless of age. Don't even think about carrying illegal narcotics in East Lansing, especially cocaine as the authorities will be unmerciful and Michigan law is very strict.

After 1 a.m. especially after the bars close at 2 a.m., Grand River Ave. and the streets along it can because dangerous due to drunk and agressive guys. Avoid these guys and if confronted, smile and head the other way.
