This car show offers a fun filled weekend with a parade in downtown Escanaba, a full day of car show with a burn out competition and several games during the day, and a dance at night. Put on by the Krusin Klassics car club, it is a professionally run show that has more to offer then just cars.more

This restaurant is a family favorite. The previous reviewer of this establishment must not have had the swedish pancakes (my favorite) or the swedish meatballs. They also have daily specials and homemade soups that are to die for! If you have room, don't say no to the bread pudding with rum/raisin sauce :)more
Okay, for some reason I keep ending up at chains even though I honestly try not to go to them when I am traveling, but I had never been to a Hudson's so I guess it's okay. Hudson's is set up like a 50's diner with all the memorabilia you could ever want. The walls are lined with pictures of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop. The...more
ha ha ha.. just kidding about the title. After the brewery closed my new friends from Escanaba decided that no trip would be complete without experiencing the Stardust Lounge. From the outside it looks like somewhere that I used to get dragged to for some family wedding or an aunts 80th birthday (and it's not much better inside.) Someone had...more
We went into downtown Escanaba on a Saturday night to meet up with some of the ex's friends and all decided to meet at the local brewery. For a Saturday night the town was completely dead. So dead in fact that Hereford and Hops did last call around 11pm!Regardless we stopped in to meet up and have a drink. The restaurant was closed so I only saw...more
The nightlife in Escanaba is somewhat lacking (sorry) so you may want to consider heading out to the casino. Okay, and the fact that I enjoy gambling once in a while doesn't hurt! :) A casino is a casino right? Hmmmmm... true most of the casinos outside of the big gambling cities are fairly similar, but I still prefer Potawatomi Casino in...more

This is a small store that is very similar to any Hallmark Store. I'm a sucker for kitschy souveniers of the places I have been so I felt the need to stop in. They have many different gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and births as well as a small section dedicated to Michigan, Escanaba and the UP. Walk all the way to the back along the wall to see these unique gifts. There were things such as coffee mugs, bumper stickers and figurines. Besides the gifts, this store also boasts a large candy selection.
What to pay: The prices here were pretty average with any gift type store.
YOU'RE HEADED TO THE 'U.P.' ------- IT'S CULTURE & DEMAEANOR ARE MUCH LIKE THAT OF ALASKA (THE GREATLAND) OR THE SOUTHWEST. BE FRIENDLY, RESPECTFUL AND ENJOY THE BEAUTY WHICH SURRONDS YOU. TAKE AWAY ONLY GOOD MEMORIES/EXPERIENCES ....... AND LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND BUT YOUR GOODWILL ... FOR THIS AREA IS ONE OF OUR LAST 'UNTOUCHED' NATURAL WONDERS.
PERHAPS, IF YOU TRAVEL IN THE SUMMER, BRING BUG SPRAY, OIL OR SKIN SO SOFT (BY AVON) TO REPEL MOSQUITOES. IF YOU HIKE THE WOODS OR HAVE PETS, BEWARE OF WOOD TICKS, 4 THEY CARRY LIME DISEASE. CHECK WITH LOCAL DNR OFFICE FOR UPDATES & INFO.
THROUGHOUT THE 'UP' YOU'RE REALLY OK UNTIL U TRAVEL 145 MILES EAST OF ESCANABA & ARRIVE IN ST. IGNACE MI & OR MACKINAW CITY/ISLAND. AT THESE LOCALES BUCKLE DOWN YOUR WALLET/PURSE. YOU'RE BEST SERVED TO BUY STAPLES & SUPPLIES B4 ARRIVING HERE (SUCH AS FILM, FUEL, FOOD, ETC) IF MONEY IS NO OBJECT, DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS ADVICE.
TRAVEL LIGH PACK AS THOUGH YOU'RE AN ONION ------ BRING LAYERS SO YOU CAN 'PEEL' LIKE AN ONION -- THIS TO ADJUST TO THE EVER CHANGING TEMPS & CLIMATES OF THE VAST STATE OF MICHIGAN ---------> THIS STATE, FROM END TO END, COVERS OVER 1500 US LAND MILES. THAT'S LIKE DRIVING FROM DETROIT MICHIGAN TO WASHINGTON DC ON THE EAST COAST FOR COMPARATIVE...more
IN ESCANABA (ESKY) YOU MUST TAKE IN LUDINGTON PARK FOR AN ENJOYABLE VIEW OF THE LAKE & AREA. ALSO, FOR YOUR DINING PLEASURE, TAKE IN THE LOG CABIN JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY BETWEEN ESCANABA & THE CITY OF GLADSTONE. THEY'RE OPEN @ 5 PM FOR SEATING.
ALSO, THE STONEHOUSE @ THE MAJOR INTERSECTION OF M-35 & LUDINGTON STREET IS EXCELLENT AS WELL.
Fondest memory: LUDINGTON PARK & THE YACHT HARBOR - NOT TO MENTION THE FALL OF THE YEAR UNTIL LATE OCTOBER FOR COLOR & ATMOSPHERE.
