Best Yoga Ever

Jonny Kest is the most amazing yoga teacher I have ever come across (been practicing for about 10 years). If you google him you will find that there are many in the states that have been taught to be yoga teachers by him and many testaments as to how great he is. His classes are usually packed but well worth the fight to slide your mat in between other followers.

Christmas Lights

Every year they light up the zoo and you can walk through with a mug of hot chocolate and look at the lights (and some of the nocturnal animals). It was probably the number one thing I did while I lived there.

Cafe Cortina: Yummy sauce!

This restaurant has been around since 1976. Recognized by PBS for its excellence in Italian food, Cafe Cortina is a place to see and be seen. The food is absolutely amazing due to the restaurant having its own garden. A bit overpriced at times, but the food is delicious!

Favorite Dish: One of my all time favorite foods is gnocchi just because I had the chance to eat gnocchi alla Sorrentina in Sorrento. Cafe Cortina has some amazing gnocchi though I did get the tomato sauce instead of the heavier cream sauce.

Astoria Pastry Shop: Pastries Galore

WOW - what an amazing place. A selection of pastries that will encourage you to get not one, not two, but your three top choices. All behind a glass counter where they will tie your box up with red twine, just for you to tear it off in two quick seconds once they place it in your hands.

Favorite Dish: Try the tiger tail and the chocolate dipped macaroons.

la Shish: Really Good Lebanese

This place has the best Lebanese in the area. It is a chain and each one is a little different. This is just the one I used to visit the most often. Go big and order a Lebanese beer and the Shish Tawook.

Warnings and Dangers

Traffic nightmare

Traffic can test ones patience in this city. Orchard Lake has one of the highest accident rates in southeast Michigan and the corner or Orchard Lake and 12 Mile is particularly congested and irritating. 696 gets backed up during rush hour as well.
