A short 500 ft walk (which includes 169 steps) takes you the 75 foot Sable Falls. The trailhead is located about one mile west of Grand Marais on Alger County Road H-58.

There's a maritime museum inside - I haven't had the chance to visit it, but I imagine it's interesting.

Homemade Pizza and Beer. There is a Famous Author who lives in a camp (cottage) outside of Grand Marais for a considerable part of the year. Don't go looking for the Famous Author - he's in Grand Marais because he wants his privacy. But you may see him at the Lake Superior Brewing Company - this is one of his local haunts. Just don't ask him for an autograph!

Favorite Dish: Their pale ale is pretty good. Hey, you're in Grand Marais!

Favorite thing: Grand Marais is 25 miles north of the burg of Seney, on SR 77. From Seney, you can go east, west, or south, but Grand Marais itself is a destination - it's not on the road to anywhere else.

Favorite thing: Grand Marais is a pleasant village on the eastern outskirts of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There's a permanent population of about 200 here. The relative isolation is a big attraction here. No beachfront condos in this community!
