You can step back in time, and visit the Depot. It holds tons of family and area history, pictures and local information. Friendly volunteers will answer all your questions about how Crawford County came about, and send you off in your direction of interest on places to visit.

Its location on the summit of the ski hill, gives you a view that second to none. During the ski season you can watch the skiers and snow boarders manuver thier way down through the tree lined slopes. During the golf season you can watch the golfers play up the hill to the 18th green. Don't tell anyone that in the fall the view of about 30 miles shows every imaginable shade of color during the color change or you will not be able to get a window seat.
Favorite Dish: Thier specialty is Steaks ,Chops and Ribs, but my favorite is the Fish and Fresh Roasted Prime Rib.

casual dining (jeans ok), lots of locals eat here, relaxed atmosphere, expect to come out of here smelling like an ashtray, though. The place has been around a looong time.
Favorite Dish: Really good burgers. The chicken wrap with the berries inferno sauce is yummy. Drinks are relatively inexpensive and the help is friendly and pretty efficient. Price depends on how much you drink.

Long before Grayling was so named, the Crawford County seat was a small town called Pere Cheney. Almost all of its citizens were wiped out in a typhoid epidemic around the turn of the century (20th). If you know somebody and can convince them you're not the destructive type they might tell you how to find your way to where Pere Cheney used to be and direct you to the old Pere Cheney cemetary.
