Kilwin's: The Best Hot Fudge Sundae!

by charlenemixa Written Jun 14, 2014

Any visit to Michigan requires a stop at one of the Kilwin's ice cream shops. We initially found Kilwin's in Traverse City but now know they are a pretty national chain. With Michigan being their home, we make it a point to pick on one of the cities in the Traverse Bay area to treat ourselves to their "Hot Fudge Sundae!" It is consistently delicious! The ice cream and the hot fudge is just scrumptious. Heck, we've even bought the Fudge to take home with us.

After walking through the Harbor Springs, locate the Kilwin's by the great chocolate smell and treat yourself to an ice cream treat! You will be delighted!

Stafford's Pier Restaurant: Consistently Good Food & Good Location

by charlenemixa Written Jun 14, 2014

We elected to sit inside and were extremely impressed with the service and food for lunch. The inside restaurant is more upscale with tablecoths. The Perch Sandwich and Whitefish Sandwich were both terrific! Good portions. Staff was very concientious. Easy to recommend to any visitor to Harbor Springs. They have three dining options outside, inside or lounge.

We have eaten here on various visits to Harbor Springs. In fact for this visit some relatives drove from Cadillac, MI (about a 2 hr. drive) to meet us here for lunch. They picked the town and restaurant when we could have gone to a much closer town.

Tom's Mom's Cookies: Award winnning cookies!

by Carliegirl Written Jan 13, 2006

This is a special little shop tucked back from the street at the end of a wandering little path, in a tiny house shaped building. It is barely large enough to accomodate the counter where the sales are rung up...and yet the smells and the tastes that come out of this place are fabulous. They bake all kinds of cookies...just cookies. They are all made fresh daily, mostly by local highschool or college students who are working themselves through school. Lots of my friends have worked here through the years. The staff is friendly and the product is delicious. They were noted by the as a "Food Find" by the Food Network, they've been featured by Family Circle Magazine and they were voted one of the nation's top three best cookies by a tasting panel for Businessweek Magazine. And they deserve all that praise...the cookies are fab. I like the plain old chocolate chip best...although they're really chocolate chunk here. If funds are low, check and see if they have any day old goods. They sell day old cookies by the bag for a super low prices.

Favorite Dish: The chocolate chunk cookie. Its the basic favorite good yummy cookies with creamy chocolate chunks mixed in. Just the thing with a tall glass of milk!

Gurney's Harbor Bottle Shop: Famous Gurney's Sandwiches

by Carliegirl Written Apr 7, 2005

This is one of the things that I miss about Harbor Springs since moving away. The sandwiches at Gurney's are great! Locals and tourists alike will head here at lunchtime. Try to offset your lunch plans so that you miss the high rush from 12-1. All the bread and meat, as well as veggies are excellent. But be prepared that they don't have tomatoes! Not sure why, but its tradition. They have signs posted on the walls behind the deli counter.

Favorite Dish: A ham, swiss, mustard and all the veggies sandwich on whole wheat. Take it down to the beach and eat it with a cold pop or beer in the sunshine right before a dip in the lake. Best picnic food around!

  • Juleretts: Where the locals would eat

by legoloonies Written Jan 2, 2005

A solid place to eat, and decent enough prices that I eat there every once in a while. Closed tuesdays, which is nice for the employees.

Favorite Dish: The deserts are the best, especially the ice cream dishes. J club sandwitch is also a worthy use of your hard earned cash
