LimberLost: The Biggest Party in Houghton Lake

LimberLost is a restaurant during the day and a nightclub during the evening. They normally carry a full menu but for Tip Up Town weekend they will limit the menu due to large crowds. A large dance floor with a catwalk for dancing is located in the center, and a live band will play with DJ music in between sets.
You can also enjoy the heated tent outside the bar in the parking lot during TUT weekend. Cover is $10 during TUT.

Dress Code: No dress code, most people come casual. However beads are not allowed in the bar due to the bar's no nudity policy. Anyone caught with beads will have them confiscated.

Other than going to one of the local 'country' bars, there really isn't much to do at Houghton Lake in the evenings! One very popular "American Pastime" however, is going to see a movie.

Like most places in the world today, unfortunately, going to see a movie at the cinema, is fast becoming an obsolete 'sport.' One thing that kept the spirit of the local cinema alive at Houghton Lake, has been the unique, one-of-a-kind cinema, "The Pines." The Pines has been a tradition at Houghton Lake for as long as I have been coming here and that has been since the late 50's. I'm not quite sure just how old this cinema is, but it has been modernized and refurbished within the last 10 years for sure.

What makes this cinema unique, you ask? First of all, it is built in the log-cabin fashion, which was so characteristically prevalent in the Northern Michigan area, since logging was the main industry in Michigan during it's early 'white-man' history. Secondly, the interior of the cinema is decorated with many examples of 'stuffed-taxidermied' wild animal specimens, all of which were also (some still) prevalent in the nearby woodlands.

Besides all this, the theatre itself, is comfortable, modern and a very pleasant experience indeed! Don't miss this place if you are ever in the Houghton Lake area overnight!

Dress Code: Very casual. A light sweater or long-sleeved shirt may be recommended as the theatre is air-conditioned and it gets a bit chilly mid-way through the film for some.
