It's like the neighborhood bar, but much better. An outdoor deck and air conditioned inside. This restaurant has been here for over 25 years and is the favorite hang out for some real movers and shakers in the community. Everyone is friendly and the food is fantastic.

Favorite Dish: My favorite is the Smoked Turkey Portabella Wrap but they just did a new menu and my son highly recommended the Smoked Trout Pasta with Asparagus Spears and now it's a tie as to my favorite dish there. Great soups, snacks, salads and sandwiches. I've never had a bad meal in 25 years!

This old school dive serves delectible delacacies such as the Big Ben, and the Big Bizoof Plate. Order up one of Ben's tasty ice cream treats! Yum!!!

You will feel like your in a 1960's DIVE!

Favorite Dish: Jumbo Chopped Beef w/Marshmallow Sundae (whipped cream/cherry/spanish nuts)

Ironwood Local Customs

When you say hi to person, just be friendly. When you go to Super One to buy groceries, tip your bagger if you have a lot of groceries. If you go to a restaurant, tip 15% of your check. And remember that even if we Yoopers look dumb, doesn't mean we don't have feelings.

Favorite thing: Conceived as a memorial to area soldiers who served during World War I, the Municipal-Memorial building reveals some of Ironwood's pride while it was enjoying its heydey of prosperity. Half a million dollars to construct the building was raised entirely through local donations, and architects from Minneapolis were called upon for the design. Terracotta and polished stone were used on the exterior, and inside the building is decorated with marble, plaster, and decorative murals. Inside there are not only municipal offices, but also a public pool as well as an auditorium and a gymnasium.

    it's over there!

Favorite thing: On the one hand, Ironwood is blessed with a beautiful location surrounded by forests. On the other hand, Ironwood is disadvantaged by not being located on a Great Lake. In the absence of mining, tourism is the best prospect for depressed towns in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but tourists most want to be in communities that are located on clear and blue waters. Which Ironwood is not, although it is possible to see as far as Lake Superior from one of the area ski-hills - on a clear day.
