Zazio's Italian Cuisine in the Radisson Hotel: Great Food and Ambiance at Zazio's

The dining room at Zazio's

The food is delicious at this brightly colored and stylish restaurant. The ambiance is very sophisticated and upbeat. The menu has plenty of pasta, pizza, fish, steak and chicken dishes to satisfy any customer.

Favorite Dish: I had the swordfish which was prepared with artichoke, a light white wine sauce and garlic. It was very tasty. The halibut was reported to be good by another member of my dining party. And for the veggies, the pasta with marinara sauce was delicious despite sounding too plain.

BD's Mongolian Barbecue: It's Mongo Man! Delish Mongolian BBQ

This is a new restaurant that is part of a national chain. The draw to this peppy, lively casual dining establishment is that you get to pick what you want! You pick the vegetables, meats, sauces and put them all together for the cooks to grill up for you while you watch.

Favorite Dish: I had the ginger sauce over a combination of chicken, beef, baby corn, mushrooms, noodles, tomatoes and water chestnuts. There is so much to experiment with, you can have a completely different meal each time you go.

Cosmo's Cucina: Fresh is the key word

Interior of Cosmos

This little gem of a restaurant is off the beaten track in Kalamazoo's "student ghetto" area. Situated on the corner of Vine and Lovell Streets, there is an Irish pub downstairs that serves burgers and brews. Cosmos is upstairs (no wheelchair access). Their menu is full of freshly prepared, healthy meals. Healthy here doesn't mean boring - they offer a constantly changing menu and daily specials. Select your favorite wine or beer to accompany your meal.

Servers are friendly and timely. The old building has a lot of ambiance and there is artwork for sale on the walls. The views of the nieghborhood are charming.

Cost is quite reasonable. I don't know of another Kalamazoo restaurant with this type of menu.

Favorite Dish: As the menu changes, it's hard to say a favorite. I usually go for seafood or salads. I have never had a bad meal, or even a mediocre, meal here.

Food Dance Cafe: Fresh Breakfast Worth Dancing About

Food Dance Cafe is a beautiful little breakfast spot where you can find most of Kalamazoo on weekend mornings. The orance juice is fresh and served in big carafes. The walls are hand-painted with beautiful vegetables, cornfields and other naturescapes.

Favorite Dish: I love the basic breakfast there: two eggs, breakfast potatoes and homemade sourdough bread. My brother gets an omelet called the Do-Si-Do as in the square-dancing step! The food is reasonably priced but for some reason the drinks (juices, coffees, teas) are expensive!

Epic Bistro: Epic Bistro is an Epic Dining Experience

This restaurant is in downtown Kalamazoo, with a regal feel and delicious food. The atmosphere is classy, but not stuffy, and the menu reflects the same sophisticated yet accessible sensibility.

Favorite Dish: I highly recommend the tomato soup as a starter, and the sea bass as your meal. The soup is served with freshly baked bread inside ... it literally melts in your mouth. Plus, there are over 100 wines available by the glass. And finish off your meal with the creme brule - it's served with fresh berries and cream.
