The Shoreline Inn: A Scary Hotel, Muskegon

The Heights

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Muskegon Heights is Muskegon's worst area for crime. It's no Detroit 8 Mile, but should still be steered around by lone travellers and females.

The Heights is basically the area west of Getty, south of Laketon, and northeast of Business-31. One particular flashpoint is a 7-11 style convenience/liquor store on the corner of Sherman and Hoyt which has been the scene of numerous holdups.

Musketawa Trail

Stretching from Black Creek Road just north of Sherman (east of US-31) out through the back of Fruitport to Ravenna and on to Conklin and Marne, the Musketawa Trail is a biking, rollerblading, snowmobiling and cross-country ski trail built along an old railway track.

Equipment: Muskegon County allows snowmobiling on its roads' shoulders.
