The eastside of downtown is the St. Joseph River. You know, the one with the South Bend in Indiana that's famous for the Notre Dame University Football (American) Team! Well, the parks a nice place to stop if you have kids that need to get out and run. For the engineer types, there's a wonderful steel truss bridge that carries Conrail and Amtrak over the river. It's a link between Chicago and Detroit.

Fernwood is a teaching facility, meeting place, and a geat place to take a walk. The paths wonder through the woods, over the wetlands, along the river (St. Joseph), across prairie and up ravines. Classrooms and meeting rooms are scattered through the park, to you can bring a meeting here and enjoy the surroundings. For more images of the park, see my travelogue Fernwood

Constantine has some interesting sights in the area. See the Covered Bridge up by Three Rivers or the Country Stores along U.S. 12.
