Oscoda Restaurants

Tait's is probably the onlyi fine dining restaurant in Oscoda. Wiltse's Brew Pub is a little less fine dining but is also excellent. Tai's has fine soups and salads, including the Millenium soup which is a combination of two fine soups. I particularly like their lake perch and their chicken salad (made with pesto). I found their pork tenderloin to be under seasoned and not very flavorful. They're open for lunch and dinner and have a full bar. Located a stone's throw from Lake Huron, you can take a nice walk on the beach after supper. Wine list is pretty good sbut a litle pricey. They need a good, inexpensive house wine.

Favorite Dish: For supper I almost always have the lake perch; my wife usually has the salmon. At lunch the chicken salad is excellent and they'll put it in a pita or on a roll or bread at your pleasure. The owner is a prominent businessman in town and usually acts as host. The service can be spotty. I've had mostly excellent service from professional waitstaff but sometimes, especially with one person who appears to be the owner's brother, it's a bit less than desireable.

This is one of the two best restaurants in Oscoda. Wiltse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but their main trade is lunch and dinner Heavy emphasis on traditional fare including steaks, chicken and fish. Their hamburgers are huge and good. Beers are brewed on the premises and are wonderful. One tip ...if you want to watch sports you have to got to the bar section, which is also the smoking section. We have found that the ventilation is so good that you can sit next to a smoker and not be bothered. We did this for the playoffs and world series and had a great time. Very friendly atmosphere

Favorite Dish: The NY steak is wonderful but I have a hamburger as often as anything.

This is a high-priced restaurant, but the food is worth it! None of this teeny-portions stuff!! You'll actually end up taking some home with you, and it's delicious! Their meat is SO good, their supplier CHOOSES which restaurants can serve it!

Favorite Dish: All their food is EXQUISITE!
