Denny's: Good Chain Restaurant in Lansing

by Basaic

This was a pretty typical Denny's with little to differentiate it from the others. The Tilapia Ranchero was adequately prepared and the service decent. Nothing to complain about, but nothing extraordinary to raise it above average either. I like the Tilapia Ranchero

The Embassy Grill: Very Good Lebanese Food in Lansing

by Basaic

The Embassy Grill is shoved into a small space in a strip mall. The inner decor was nondescript with fake leather and Formica; but when I am after lunch, I care more about the food and the service. I had Chicken Shawarma (Chicken cooked in a lemon and garlic sauce with herbs and spices). It was well prepared and tasted very good. Portion size was more than adequate. Service was pretty good and the waitress was friendly. I enjoyed the Chicken Shawarma. I had never had it before so I cannot say how authentic it was.

Cheddar's: Great Chain Restaurant in Lansing

by Basaic

I asked the desk clerk at my hotel where to eat and she recommended Cheddar's. Cheddar's is a chain of restaurants. The decor was dark colors and wood. Service was pretty good. They also had a bar. I ordered Cajun Catfish which was very good and actually pretty spicy like it should be. Price was very reasonable for what I got. Worth a try. Loved the Cajun Catfish

Suomi Bakery & Restaurant: Finnish Restaurant in Houghton

by Basaic

Suomi is interesting for several reasons. First, the building was built in 1869 and is very attractive. This is also the #1 rated restaurant in town. I warn you though, the smell of the bread may make you overeat. The name of the restaurant is Finnish, as are the words at the top of each category of food, but the items on the menu are mostly American except for desert. The sandwich I had for lunch was very good, and the staff was efficient and friendly. I heard the breakfast here is fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. Almost a 5! The Hot Meatloaf Sandwich was quite good.

La Senorita: Very Good Mexican Food in Gaylord

by Basaic

There was a Mexican Restaurant near my hotel so I decided to try it. It was La Senorita. The building had the appropriate Swiss Chalet style (which looked strange for a Mexican Restaurant) and the sign has a senorita dancing in a full skirt. Inside the decor was bright and colorful with baskets, colored lights, lanterns, and a nice mural. I ordered my usual; an Enchilada Platter. The food was very good; the service was just okay. I opted not to try the Margaritas. The bar appeared to be closed. The Enchilada Platter was above average, especially the Cheese Enchilada.

Ann Arbor/ Ypsi finest: Diners/ Delis

by bpritts

In Ann Arbor, Krazy Jim's is nationally recognized. But also consider Zingermans (fancy deli, expensive but great corn beef, etc!); also Chick Inn in Ypsilanti next door, about 20 minute drive on Prospect St. Chick Inn is a 1950 style drive-in, great burgers and cheese steak hoagie. Broadway Cafe - Broadway Rd, Ann Arbor - also has great cheese steaks, and, curiously, Korean main dishes. Email if you need more hints. We are locals.... Best,Brad Krazy Jim - the Blimpy Burger - a diner style burgerZingermans - the Brooklyn Reuben (Pastrami, swiss & sauerkrautChick Inn - Philly Cheese Steak (cheddar, beef, yellow pepper & onion)

Antlers: Great Food Itilian Cajun & Buffalo/Elk Burgers etc

by Protia

This place has been here for generations. It's where the locals go.... Great variety of food and prices... When available, try their authentic Gumbo... owner grew up in St Mary's Parish and knows what good good food.. Building is being authenticated presently. Street level floor was restored to it's original interior, Penwater brick, 13ft ceilings and looks out over the center town Village Green. Their competitors come and go but they are the oldest on going business in the Village... Gumbo when it's available is the best. Their Black Angus, Buffalo and Elk burgers have always been the best in town. The buns they use are custom made for them by a bakery using their original receipt brought with them from Europe 103 years ago... Great menu

The Fallen Rock Cafe: Quaint used book store in Munising

This is a Used Book store which serves great coffee with delicious looking snacks.- The staff is incredibly friendly and best of all they have this computer for use for all us folks who do NOT travel with a laptop. The book store is big and well organized with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas to lounge in a browse. I understand that they have live music here on Saturday evenings. A wonderful atmosphere and I would highly recommend stopping here. The coffee and bagel were delicious
