About Three and a Half Hours From Chicago
On Monday, September 13, 2009, my long-time friend, Mickey [Michelle], and I left my home about 6:30 a.m. It was not the most optimal time to leave because we had to go through Chicago, and this was heavy traffic time. However, we forged ahead.
The photo is of Mickey beside her car; she was braving the difficult part of our journey as our driver.
Since I live in the far northern Chicago suburb of Libertyville, Illinois, [ about 45 minutes to the city in good traffic]; however, we had to go THROUGH the city and to the SKYWAY which takes us to INDIANA and then to MICHIGAN.
We experienced about a thirty minute delay, and we were relieved to escape the congestion. I took over the driving and had the easy job of the expressway. Mickey brought her GPS [ which she calls "Mable"], and we had no trouble making it to South Haven, Michigan and to our Bed and Breakfast.
The only time that we used the car while in South Haven was to drive to the walking trail and to Douglas and Saugatuck, Michigan.
Our Bed and Breakfast was within walking distance of the town with its shops, restaurants, and museum. The Bed and Breakfast had a convenient parking area which was convenient and safe.
We were smarter on the way home; we waited until we knew that our arrival time to Chicago would be after the worst of the traffic.
