About 15 miles east of Bemidji on Hwy. 2. Take the Scenic Highway (Hwy 39) to Blackduck. Here's my travelogue on Chippewa National Forest. And believe me, I have barely scratched the surface, stop at the many Visitor Information stops to learn more about the things you can see here. or check out their web site.

On Hwy. 71 about 25 miles from Bemidji but a great place to take in wilderness and see where the Mississippi River begins. Check out my travelogue on Itasca State Park.

The Forestedge Winery is a new winery that opened in 1999 and offers wines made from fruits capable of surviving the frigid northern Minnesota winters.
