Detroit Lakes Travel Guide

One of the biggest attractions on the first week in August every year is the We Fest which is a country music festival that lasts for 4 days. I'm not a very big fan of country music, but it's actually a great party. You go there more for the atmosphere & the people, the music & enterainers are just a bonus.

Actually one of my favorite places to go when in Detroit Lakes was Zorbas Pizza.
Zorbas always had great atmosphere. It didn't matter it you went during the day or at night time, it was always a fun place to be. You would always order your large pizza & a (few) pitchers of beer to wash it down with.
One thing that I had never seen before going into Zorbas was when the University students would come in for beers after playing their weeky baseball game & then all of a sudden the group would start yelling out (headbanger, headbanger, ...). A few of the guys would take (willingly) one of their freinds by the feet & hold him upside down on a bar stool while he gulps down about half a pitcher of beer. I still cannot figure out how you can drink while standing on your head......but hey, it was good entertainment !

Favorite Dish: Canadian Back Bacon pizza was actually our favorite, but it actually didn't matter what kind of toppings you got with your pizza, the were all very good. I would almost say that they had the best pizza in all of Minnisota (at least out of all the places that I have been to)!
