Duluth Athletic Club: A Classy Bar
D.A.C or the Duluth Athletic Club is a great bar, very busy on Thursday nights. Both students and mature adults enjoy this place.
There is a restaurant separate from the bar that has great food, but is a bit expensive. Try the spinach and artichoke dip if you go.
Dress Code: Dress is typically a littler bit more upscale such as black pants for girls and a nice dress shirt for guys, but people do wear jeans. Most people don’t go to this bar to get wasted out of their minds like Grandma’s!
Grandma's Sport Garden: Dancing, Drinks and Fun
Grandma’s Sports Garden (this is different than Grandma’s Restaurant) is a popular hang out for students. Wednesday and Saturday nights the place is packed. If you want a great party on Halloween this bar is crazy busy and the costumes are great. The downer is there is always a line and October in Minnesota is typically freezing!
Dress Code: Pretty casual
Fitger's: Old Brewery, Modern Brewpub
I've haven't been here to sample the wares, but I'm told that Fitger's is a popular place with live music and attracting a wide variety of Duluthers. They certainly have an impressively solid building.
- Beer Tasting
Canal Park Big Top Tent: Canal Park Big Top Tent
Live musical entertainment is showcased at the Big Top Tent in Canal Park on three occasions during Grandma’s Marathon weekend. The Saturday afternoon show is free and open to the public. The Friday and Saturday evening shows are limited to those at least 21 years of age. A $7 cover charge will be collected.
Dress Code: Casual, but dress warmly...it can get quite cold by the lake even in June!
Renegade Comedy Theatre: Comedy Tonight!
There's something funny going on!
It's cheap, it's on the fly, but there's always something funny happening at Renegade. Check out the Saturday night Improv Olympics for the unpredictable and the outrageous. Not for the young or the easily offended.
On the mainstage they always have something fun. In May 2004 they have Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.
In June they are reviving Out of the Hat, which brings a play from inspiration to production in 24 hours! Check out the website for details.
They also have children's theatre on Saturday and Sunday afternoon with fine fare for the young folk.
Dress Code: The funnier the better.
- Theater Travel
Indian Point Campground: Gather Round the Campfire!
Because we are in our 40's, our nightlife pretty much consists of sitting around our campfire at the campground and enjoying the peace and quiet. I don't know anything about any of the clubs in town!
Dress Code: Casual, probably sweats, including a sweatshirt!
At night Grandma's Sports bar...
At night Grandma's Sports bar turns into a dance joint. DON'T go on Thurs that's kiddy night( if my memory serves me right )
Dress Code: The dress code is a free for all, but all the locals tend to go college/ jock/ prepy look.
Duluth Omnimax Theatre: Catch a movie
You can always head down to the waterfront and check out a movie in the Omnimax Theatre that opened in 1996. Check out the website below for what's showing now.
