Access to Kabetogama Lake, near where it joins Namakan Lake. The harbor is on the west end of the narrows, which are a mile or two long, before reaching Namakan. If you have a boat, you can head east to Moose Bay on Namkan and visit the old Ojibway village sites or visit the next bay (Hoist Bay) and find the hoist system used to pull timber from the lake and move it to railway cars. All are now abandoned.
At the Ash River entry, there are several trails. Forest View is a short trail of about a mile (1.6 km) that takes you through the boreal forest.

Leaving from Rainy Lake Visitor Center and the Kabetogama Visitor Center, boat tours are offered by the National Park Serivce of the lakes. The park guides will take you to various placces of interest out on the open lakes. There are old gold mines, ghost towns, a rock garden, boat-in-campsites, and plenty of wildlife. It is here in the border lakes region that Eagles come to hatch and raise their young.

If you don't have much time, stop in at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, at the end of Minn Route 11. Here, you'll find an introduction to the park and a wilderness area accessible only by boat. Rangers are available to answer your questions and offer other activities for your stay.

Variety of local specialities. They have a Walleye sandwich. Of the four who ordered, only one found bones. Haven't heard of any other problem. The Nachos, yep, nachos, were wonderful. The small order is a meal in itself.

Local game place, but the games have been removed recently (summer 2009). The restaurants still nice and has an extensive menu. Many sandwiches and dinners.
Favorite Dish: For lunch, it's the Pizza Bar, which includes salads, including pasta salad and cole slaw. There are extra toppings and pasta.
