Beer brewing has a long history in Jordan, dating back to at least the 1860s. Of course, prohibition put a stop to all brewing activity in 1920. Like many small town breweries, the Jordan Brewery never really recovered from prohibition. Brewing started and halted under many different changes in ownerships from the 1930s through the 1960s, but never really operated for a lengthy time at full capacity. In this age of micro-brews, it may again be operational one day, but don't hold your breath.

A picture perfect little creek wends its way from the cliffs on the east side of town through downtown and on to the Minnesota River. Looks like a great place to spend a lazy July childhood day.

Minnesota has a great network of amateur baseball--cllaed townball by everyone in the state. Almost every small town has a ballpark. Some are just beautiful like this old park on the banks of Sand Creek that flows through Jordan before hooking up with the mighty Minnesota River. Train tracks are featured on the other side of the left field fence--which in fact is exactly where I stood to take this photo.

Dating from 1885, the old city hall building is built with the ubiquitous yellow brick favored by most pre-1900 buildings in town. If you look at the right side of the building, you can see the large arched doorways indicating that the building was surely used as a fire station in its early history.
