The The beer and extended wine list are exhaustive. Murray's is known for it's Silver Butterknife Steaks, but the last time I was there (May 20), I had salmon and my partner had walleye. Both were excellent and well-seasoned.
The ambience is classy, but not too elegant. The wait staff are easy-going, helpful and funny. The place fills up very quickly, even on weekday evenings. You can dress casually (on your way to a ballgame) or eat there for a special occasion.
Local celebs hang out there frequently.
Favorite Dish: I am a salmon-lover, very rarely choose their steaks. Both entrees melt in your mouth.
Minneapolis is a great dining city. There are so many choices, but unfortunately I haven't documented many of my eating adventures here. Check out www.digitalcity.com/twincities/dining/ for categorized dining choices.
This is - in my opinion - THE place to get steak in the Twin cities. The place looks like it was transported straight outta the 1950's, with pink velour everywhere. The waitstaff have been around forever, and I would bet that on most nights you could find someone who has worked there for ten years or more. While the price may seem a little steep, believe me, for a steak of this quality, it's worth it!!
Favorite Dish: Although the restaurant has won awards for it's "Silver Butterknife" steak (and yes, that's good too), my own personal favorite is the chateaubriand. It comes with a fantastic bearnaise sauce and mushrooms and it is absolutely outstanding. Another cut that is pretty darn tasty is the Ranch Rib - it is marinated so well the flavor just oozes on every bite. Don't miss the hickory smoked shrimp, but avoid the au-gratin potatoes.
