No matter what time of year you are coming, bring a sweatshirt and pants! Bug spray If you are going to the North Shore, please note that the wind off of Lake Superior is very cool! The temp up there can be quite lower than everywhere else. Also, many times, especially in the winter, the temp north of the twin cities can be AT LEAST ten degrees colder.

Minnesota weather can change rapidly summer or winter... summers can be muggy hot then turn very cool at night or in the winter be cold and calm and turn stormy quickly...always carry appropriate winter gear (in case you get stranded in your car) temps. can drop to -40 below in a hurry.

IT'S HOT AND HUMID THEN IT'S COLD AND RAINY,USUALLY WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS.SERIOUSLY, IF YOU ARE COMING HERE IN THE SUMMER SHORTS AND SANDALS ARE THE STANDARD ATTIRE BUT BE SURE TO BRING A JACKET AS EVENINGS CAN GET COOL, ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE.AFTER SEPTEMBER HEAVIER CLOTHES ARE A MUST BUT WE ARE FAMOUS FOR OUR INDIAN SUMMER SO BE PREPARED TO NEED SHORTS AND TEES EVEN INTO NOVEMBER.HAPPY TRAVELING!

Fall/Winter: Bring lite jacket/sweater in the fall. In the winter you will need a heavier jacket. Spring/Summer: shorts and tshirts, you may want to bring something to cover yourself from the rain. It will rain on occassion. Most of what you will need to bring is gonna be based on the season you travel. Bug spray: mosquitos are notrious in the summer. Calamine lotion would be good to, especially if you get bit by the mosquitos. For the winter just bring some extra lotion your skin can get pretty dry due to the cold. Extra camera batteries. Also make sure you have charged you video camera. It's a good idea to keep an extra battery with you. Again Bug spray!! Also sun screen and lotion. If you are camping remember your 1st aid kit.

Last time I was there was middle of April and they had a big snow storm. Keep the weather in mind when you are packing to visit Minnesota. Go to weather.com and get the extended forecast... then plan on it doing the unexpected.

You really shouldn't have trouble finding anything you may have forgotten to bring along to Minnesota. Sure, you will pay twice as much for your mosquito spray at a convenience store near the campground or lake than you would at Target, but it is money well spent went the bugs are biting.Bring warm clothes in winter and sunscreen and shorts in summer. Minnesotans are an understanding lot, we have figured out long ago that its better to look kind of dorky and be warm than look neat and have your ears fall off because of frostbite.

If traveling in farm country in the summer, bring a good weather radio or know the local channel for weather.
