downtown St. Paul as seen from the Cathedral by zrim St. Paul is the capital city of Minnesota, but it does not quite have the same commercial panache as that of its sibling, Minneapolis. Several modern skyscrapes comprise the Minneapolis skyline, in fact there is very little that remains of the original turn of the century buildings in Minneapolis. In St. Paul, however, with a few notable exceptions, the downtown remains mired in a post World War II look and feel. The energy is not quite there despite the new Excel Energy hockey arena. by almapaul MALL OF THE AMERICAS: If you are a SHOPPER, and I am that, this is a place for you. My advice take a cab, trying to find parking and then trying to find your parking space after a day spent in this place is not all that much fun. ***Yes it is only a mall, but it has everything and anything and if you are a true blue shopper you will truly regret not stopping by*** Leave a Comment

Check out the neighborhoods. St. Paul is flooded with neighborhood parks, trails, resteraunts, colleges, bars, and shops. In the summer take a trip to Como Park or a walk along Summit Ave. Check out the bar scene along Grand Ave, or catch a concert and a pint at O'Garas. In the winter throw on some scates and try your luck on a neighborhood ice rink. Make it a point to see the Winter Carnival parade, but avoid being kissed by a Vulcan. Try your luck at finding the Medalion also.
I miss getting an ice cream cone at Nelson's Cheese Factory. I miss the onion rings at Porkies. I also miss the many parks and trails of the city. I also miss not having to deal with traffic like I do in other cities. Leave a Comment

by acemj Most of the most beneficial information on the Twin Cities is on my Minneapolis page. Why? Well, because for the locals, Minneapolis & St. Paul are really one big city. That's why it's known as the Twin Cities. The Mississippi River divides the city with Minneapolis on the west side and St. Paul to the east.
This picture was shot from the state Capitol building in St. Paul and, as you can see, Minneapolis is just across the river in the distance. Leave a Comment

I really wouldn't be able to name just one thing when it comes to showing someone about the Twin Cities. There is so many events that are over here all year around. There is alot of different varieties of things to do here.
Well...the one thing that I sure haven't miss when I am away from Minnesota is the winters. Other than that, it is just that I know so much around this place, so I miss being around the things that I know so much and the people that I know. Leave a Comment

by go_doggo Take a drive or walk along Summit Ave to view all of the gorgeous mansions. This is a picture of the governor's mansion and it is NOT the best in the area... Leave a Comment

Go to the new Science Museum. Walk along the riverfront. Visit the state capitol. Go to the Mall of America. Take a ride around the Minneapolis parkways and the St. Paul parkways.
Biking the 'grand round' of St. Paul parkways.
