Each weekend theme emphasizes one specifiec culture during the Renaissance. For us the Italian Carnival has been the favored weekend. Here you will see us in costume as courtesans visiting a Rennaissance Hat Shop, Hobbit Hollow, and the Enchanted Forest o the Shire.

Spending a day in the sun reading the bettor's tabloid and guessing your picks can be more enjoyable than a major league baseball game. Canterbury's one-mile oval is one of the finest in the nation. Sandy loam composition. Three chutes --3 1/2 furlongs, 6 1/2 furlongs and 1 1/4 miles. Our turf course is a 7/8 mile inner oval that accommodates races at several distances.

Here is an authentic southern California-Sonoran style restaurant. When your nostrils need the aroma of mesquite in the summer air, here is where to find it.

Favorite Dish: Skillet-seared steak and chicken with chili peppers and a Negro Modelo.

On the Prairie horses were once highly valued as the primary mode of transportation. Now Minnesota has its own racetrack, and here sports gamblers can spend the afternoons and evenings reading the daily guides and preparing to bet on theri fravorites. Card players can also find games and tables inside the sports complex.

Shakopee Favorites

Favorite thing: Dangerfields restaurant, Valley Fair, Mystic Lake Casino's annual pow wow held in August or September. Minnesota Renaisance Festival annually held weekends only during August through Labor Day holiday if you enjoy old world fun from the era of Kings, Queens, Knights, pheasants, shops, jugglers, outdoor mini theatre stage acts -- it's outdoors so dress accordingly, casual, and wear old comfortable shoes! I don't recommend it for small kids, not enough to keep their interest. All actors dressed in old world garb. Some language can be a bit rough/sarcastic, it's part of the act.

Fondest memory: Pow Wow. What heritage the Indians have!
