Minnesota Tourist Traps

  • Mall of America

    Minneapolis Tourist Traps

As a local of Minneapolis, I have been to the Mall of America many times. Each time I'm there, somebody ends up dropping at least $50 to $100 on food and other things. Lots of stores have higher prices because the Mall has so many tourists. The biggest offenders: Nickelodeon Universe. The deal is, you get either a ticket with "points" added onto...

  • Valley Fair

    Minneapolis Tourist Traps

Valleyfair is an amusement park at the far south end of the cities. While not as big as some, it is still very fun and enjoyable. Valleyfair has three large rollercoasters, a water amusement park, plenty of rides, and an Imax Theatre. Picnic grounds are onsite, and they welcome large groups. Every kid who grew up in the Twin Cities has great...

  • Mall of Capitalism

Well...it is an icon. And it does show free market captilalism at its best. Food, products, and entertainment all under one big roof. Walk through the Nickelodean amusement park. But definately eat at the Twin City Grill.

  • MOA Mall of America----Not...

MOA Mall of America----Not really a trap but most of us never go there, the prices are a bit higher and there's not much else around it. I recommend going there on your last day on the way to the airport... it is only a couple miles from the airport so it's on your way.

  • The arts centre wasn't what...

The arts centre wasn't what i expected and having walked around the place, the thing i was most impressed with was the view of the Minneapolis skyscraper skyline.

  • The Underwater Adventure at...

The Underwater Adventure at Mall of America is a tourist trap because it is over priced. You pay $13.95 to walk through a glassed tunnel and see fish swimming all around you. It is nice but only takes about 45 minutes to see it all. In the photo is a ray petting pool. The rays don't really have any place to take a break from the crowds of people.

  • It's probably not a surprise...

It's probably not a surprise to anyone, but many peoplethink the Mall of America is a tourist trap. Many Minnesotans, including me, only go there when they have friends or relatives in town. It does have its own theme park, but if you've seen one mall...check it out for yourself at the website...
