 | Two Harbors Restaurants | Tips 1 - 7 of 7 | | This place is done up like an English tea house. Tea is served in flowered cups in flowered saucers, coffee in special mugs. There are wonderful scones, delicious cookies (made fresh each day) and great homemade soups and sandwiches. But for a special treat, if you notify them in advance, they'll do an English afternoon tea, with the clotted cream, fresh fruit and all kinds of pastries and goodies. They do it well! I've seen this done for little girls' birthday parties, and senior citizens' birthday parties, and everything in between. They also have outdoor seating, and although the noise from the main drag can be distracting, it's also festive.
Strong coffee and almond filled cookies. And any kind of sandwich. They're generous! On the south side of the street.

Although we expected to pay outragious prices, the bill was quite fair considering how good the food and coffee was. We've eaten several breakfasts and lunches here and really look forward to our return trips. The breakfasts are hearty, with typical northwoods "lumberjack" fare. The impressive touches are the maple syrups (made locally/regionally) and the excellent coffee variety. This place does A LOT of business and you may have to wait for a table a while, but it is certainly worth it!!! Waitstaff has always been very pleasant, efficient, and gracious---a quality that is rapidly disappearing at the large chain-type restaurants in most towns.
They have unique sandwiches--all of which are good. Pick something that sounds good. It probably IS!!! The Balckwoods in Two Harbors has excellent food. It was the first Blackwoods built in the area. The is also one in Duluth and in Cloquet, and if you're in Duluth you should stop at that one instead. The food is the same at both locations, but the atmoshere is much better in Duluth. The Two Harbors Blackwoods has a dark Perkins feel.
Definately the chicken!!! They roast their own, excellent! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 612 7th Ave, Two Harbors, MNPhone: 218-834-3846Directions: Downtown Two HarborsWebsite: www.blackwoods.com

Betty's Pies has great home cooking. My husband loved his pasties and I have enjoyed meatloaf, reuben sandwiches, and their fries. But you can't go to Betty's Pies without trying the pie. Peach is always a good choice, and key lime is very popular! The staff wear pins that say "I'm not Betty." Pretty funny when they hire retirees to open the doors who look like they could actually be her. Be ready for a wait in the summer. The restaraunt is pretty slow in the winter.
I love the meatloaf because it tastes home cooked! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 1633 Highway 61, Two Harbors, MNPhone: 877-269-7494Directions: Just north of Two HarborsWebsite: www.bettyspies.com

Pie! All sorts of pie and more pie! Good coffee and pie! Oh yeah, they have meatloaf and hamburgers and diner ilk, too. But did I mention the pie!? The surroundings are colorful and comforting. This is a kind of idealized recreation of the place your mom would like to go after Sunday service. Did I mention the pie?
Okay, they regularly have about two dozen varieties of pie available. I haven't tried all of them, but I plan to. The banana cream pie is terrific, and I'm not a big fan of banana cream pies. Most cream pies are basically pudding in a pie shell with some fruit thrown in. This was layers of bananas with the cream fighting to get in. The atmosphere and menu indicate upscale diner, but the quality of the fare is above average. This is a great stop on your way up or down the shore.
I really enjoy their Turkey Mandarin sandwich with roast turkey breast, mandarin oranges, cranberry mayo sauce, fresh spinach leaves all on their homemade bread.
