There are picnic areas in the park; so you can have a nice relaxing lunch by the lake. Bringing your own food and having a picnic is also more economical than a restaurant.
Trace State Park has a nice lake for boating, water skiing, fishing and other water sports. I talked to a local guy for a while and he said there is good fishing on the lake, although he wasn't having much luck that day.
I really enjoyed this very pretty park. Trace State Park offers a variety of outdoor activities ranging from fishing and water sports to exploring miles of secluded nature trails. The lake is big enough for boating and waterskiing. There is also a disk golf course, picnic areas, and other attractions. A special arrangement with the Pontotoc Country Club allows Trace State Park guests to enjoy the club's 18-hole golf course without paying green fees. It is also conveniently located minutes from Tupelo.

There is a warning sign at the trailhead for the hiking trail. Be aware of what is going on around you because you are sharing the trail with horseback riders, and mountain bikers. There are also snakes in the area, so watch for local wildlife.
There are a few nice hiking/nature trails at the park. They were level and not too difficult. Nice views. Please note that some trails are open for horseback riding, biking, and hiking so watch out for other users.
The lake at Trace State Park offers boating, waterskiing, fishing and other water related recreation. Part of the lake is limited to trolling speed.
