The food here is always good. Each day a different hot lunch plate is served. Salads and sandwiches are always on the menu. Perfect place for the ladies to meet for lunch. Its like dining in a dollhouse.

Favorite Dish: I love to go on Tuesdays for the hot lunch. It is baked fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans. (actually butterbeans, but i sub green beans ;) )

The outside of the restaurant has a Chinese theme (with lots of lights). The inside is not brightly lit, but it the lighting and ambience is warm and friendly. Seating in the restaurant is good for about 30 - 40 people. The parking lot is very dysfunctional in design, so be careful when parking your car, as there is a center isle where patrons may park at (which makes exiting and entering hazardous if someone parks in the middle isle). Prices for their buffet is very reasonable (weekend dinner buffet price is $8.50), but their take-out boxes are very small, so it may be best to eat in to get your moneys worth.

Favorite Dish: The crème cheese filled wantons are very good, and nearly all of their chicken meals are equally as good. Sometimes, their meals are a little over seasoned with pepper, so keep that in mind if ordering from the buffet.

The outside matches the inside, so don't expect too much. However, considering this is Brandon (and there are not too many family restaurants in this city), Azteca is not that bad. Staff was friendly too. Consider avoiding Azteca during heavy rain storms, as the location of the restaurant is at the bottom of a valley and may flood.

Favorite Dish: The Mexican salad was good, and prices are quite reasonable.

Brandon Transportation

  • by Diego_dog Written Nov 28, 2004

The only way to travel around Brandon is by car. Either rent a car (expensive), or rent a cab from the nearby airport (even more expensive - rate of $ 2 a mile). The concept of public transportation in Brandon Mississippi does not exist. Traveler beware.

Brandon Warnings and Dangers

  • by Diego_dog Written Dec 12, 2004

Motorist traveling on I-20 (East from Pearl and West from Pelahatchie) would be very wise to reduce their speed before they approach Brandon (at least 5 miles / 8.04 kilometers), as the local police STRICTLY enforce the speed limit of 70 Mph / 112.65 KMph.

In the city of Brandon, West Government Street and Value Road are heavily patrolled by police looking for speeders. Watch the speed limit signs!!

Brandon Favorites

Favorite thing: If you happen to be driving thru Mississippi on I-20, and you have a laptop or a PDA device with a Wi-Fi card, you’re in luck. There are two places in Brandon where you can access the Internet free of charge (and at the most unlikely of places you would expect wireless Internet service).

Krystal (at: 1257 West Government Street), and McDonald's (at: 132 Stribling Lane).

Word of advice. No one at these places knows ANYTHING about how the Wi-Fi service works, so it's helpful to know a thing or two about how your wireless device before utilizing this free service. Also, wear a sweater in Krystal (even in summer) and McDonalds is usually has dirty tables, but it is free Internet service nonetheless.
