the gulfport city hall was built in 1905 and survived both hurricanes camille and katrina. this beautiful neoclassical revival structure is currently under renovation but is due to reopen in july 2009. for those interested in architecture and history the gulfport city hall is worth a stop.

the gulfport historical museum was badly damaged by hurricane katrina and is now closed. why this structure is still interesing in that next to the museum is the steeple of a church that collapsed during the storm.

most visitors come to gulfport and biloxi to gamble. gulfport and biloxi have a number of casinos that line US 90 on the beach. sadly in 2005 gulfport lost several casinos to hurricane katrina. pictured is the island view casino which is my personal favorite in gulfport.

prior to the early 1990's the main attraction of gulfport was it's white sand beach. today most visitors come to gulfport for it's gambling casinos. gulfport beach is on the mississippi sound and the water is very shallow. if you are a beach aficionado you will be disappointed. if you are a real beach lover i suggest going east to the alabama and northwest florida beaches.

I've been on several trips with Capt Barry and have caught lots of fish each time! Good variety & lots of fish! He is one of those rare captains who is out to make sure his customers have a good time. I would definitely recommend 9-Ball charters to everyone! We generally fish with him twice a year and would recommend him to anyone.

Wolf River canoes has varios canoe runs ranging from 5 to 24 miles and more.
The Wolf River is calm and preserved for over 100 miles of its run. That means, no construcion on the banks of the river and lots of turtles baskin in the sun on log and birds to see on the banks of the river. There is camping allowed.
They will outfit you with camping gear if you did not bring any along.B ob has about 90 canoes and kayaks. He has been running this outfit for about 22 years. I can't wait to go back.

An old shrimp boat that was blown ashore by hurricane Camille in 1969 and now sits close to where it washed up. It is a tourist attraction in Gulfport and serves as a reminder of the great storm. If you go into the gift shop take a gas mask. The lady in there is a chain smoker... cough, cough.

The water is generally calm along the beach because of a chain of barrier islands which protects the shore from storms and controls the amount of wave action that hits the beach
