Meridian Restaurants

  • Awesome Banana Bread Pudding

Massive amount of food for cheap. The one on North Hill Street has outside seating only; while the other one is actually indoors with more extensive menu (as of 2007 only the indoor one has fried Okra). I usually go to the North Hill Street location. I prefer the pulled pork--just be sure to order extra sauce on the side because you'll probably...

  • Yes, there is Thai food.

Finding Thai food living in Meridian in itself is pretty special. Owners Joe and Gina, both Thai, put a lot of work into the restaurant--it's their labor of love. Great deals on lunch specials. The restaurant closes early (7:00PM during the week), at least as of 2007, so do plan ahead. If the restaurant isn't too busy, they will gladly make...

  • Jean's Restaurant in downtown...

Jean's Restaurant in downtown Meridian. This is a must for afternoon lunch. The perfect place to experience southern cooking at its most. Pricing is very reasonable and portions are plenty. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. anything and everything. down home southern cooking

Meridian Shopping

  • Hwy 45 North, Flea Market

This flea market has it all. From Antiques to collectibles, to new items, you will find it here. There are probably 50 to 60 dealers in this Flea Market and they have everything from soup to nuts. You might even meet some of their more eccentric folks like Ken or Richard (the owner). Both are a wonderful lot of fun! The Flea Market is just filled...

This little shop lives at the bottom of the hill off I-20/59. Take the Hwy 145 Exit between Holiday Inn and Waffle House and go South. At the bottom of the hill on the left, just past the Waffle House, is a small (lookin) little antique Mall. This mall has around 35 or 40 dealers with a wonderful diversity of items. You can buy the most expensive...

Meridian Off The Beaten Path

  • Blueberries in the spring!

If you are lucky enough to visit and have time to spare, go out and pick some blue berries. There are several u-pick places around here. The one we went to was Johnson's Farm. Great fun and plenty of blueberries for cheap. When we went it was around $5 per gallon.

  • Take an afternoon drive

Head toward highland park, but instead of going there, just drive around there and see the old, run down part of Meridan. It's both beautiful and oddly calming (at least for me), especially in the late afternoon. Having lived in other places, it was definitely a unique view.
