Purvis has a nice veterans memorial on the courthouse grounds and an impressive veterans park in the downtown area.
Purvis has a decent little historic district with a few buildings of historical and/or architectural interest
Purvis is a town of just under 2200 people located in Southern Mississippi along US Highway 11 and near Interstate 59. The population is almost unchanged from 2000. Purvis was named after the town's founder Thomas Melville Purves (not sure why the spelling change). Purvis is the county seat of Lamar County. Lamar County was named for Mississippi statesman Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar.
There are two courthouses in town, the old one and a newer one. Both looked kinda neat.
