Absolutely no atmosphere from the outside (it is located in a shopping center), Harvey's more than makes up for it on the inside, which is nice, quiet, and dark.
The food is nice, too. This is the best place to eat in Starkville.
Favorite Dish:
I had the lemon pepper chicken. Tender and flavorful...and not terribly expensive (twelve dollars, and it comes with a salad, cheese bread, and a choice of garlic potatoes or veggies).
Due to the small, southern town nature of Starkville, City Bagel Cafe almost seems out of place. Drive across Mississippi and you will see a Barbeque place on every block. City Bagel Cafe is someplace you would expect in a larger city. Very clean and excellent service.
Favorite Dish:
Great bagels and other breads. Diverse array of sandwiches. Also serve small pizzas on selected nights. Best pizza in Starkville.
It is a great Mexican restaurant. I have tried to find another restaurant that serves this dish, but I have not been successful.
Say hello to Jose!
Favorite Dish:
Special #36 or lunch special #8 (Chilaquiles)with chicken.
They have the best Sweet Tea in Starkville.
Oby's (Po Boy Sandwiches, cajun dishes, etc.)
This place is a house converted into a restaurant. The owners have placed their antique collection (old coca-cola signs, jukeboxes) throughout the restaurant. The price for the meal you receive is extremely reasonable.
Favorite Dish:
Red Beans and Rice or a Stuffed Baked Potato!
Both are extremely good. And no meal would be complete without Sweet Tea. If you have not had this before you will hate it... but I promise it will grow on you. Before you know it you will be addicted to the stuff.
This is real southern food! Try some grits along with breakfast. Order a combination plate for lunch. Don't be supprised if a waitress calls you 'darlin'. This is their way of being friendly. :)
