    An Ole Miss football game

If you can get tickets (good luck), this is a cultural event to see. For those people who may have experienced Division II or III College Football, it's a totally different world. The event begins with the tailgate, a picnic from the back of your car (or truck), in the Grove at the University. Wear your good clothes. Socialize, eat fried chicken or barbeque (or both), drink iced tea (or beer). Then migrate along with everyone else to the gigantic stadium, where you will devote your every conscious thought to football for the following 4 hours. Scream the Hotty Toddy at the top of your lungs. Go crazy!

  • Biloxi was pretty cool, but...

Biloxi was pretty cool, but don't go out of your way if you're not planning on going there. I enjoyed the casinos, which is what it is known for. Also, it is on the gulf of Mexico, so it has great scenery. The town is smaller than I expected, and I didn't expect much.

Another beautiful segment of the original foot and horse path.

I took this walk at dusk, and insect repellent was definitely de rigueur.

This was a ceremonial place for Natchez Indians around 1400 or so. It is a very large artificial plateau, which today is covered with well maintained turf.

Honestly, if I didn't have family in Mississippi, I think my favorite thing to do there would be to leave.

Drive south and visit Gulfport and New Orleans. Also drive north over the border to Memphis and visit Graceland.
