  • Avoid Marcus Bottom (aka - "rock bottom")

Tourist visiting Vicksburg wishing to see either the casinos or the Civil War Park would be wise to totally avoid Marcus Bottom (some people call it "rock bottom"). Marcus Bottom is north bound on Halls Ferry Rd and Bowmar Ave. There is NOTHING of tourist interest in that area (only a KFC and a Wendy's). It's not so bad where you cannot drive through it during the daytime, but you'd be foolish to walk through there at night time.

    Mind the Mounds!

Watch your step, because that little dirt mound that you stepped on could possibly be an ant hill. But that's not an ordinary ant hill, that's most likely a FIRE ANT hill! And if you don't move quickly, you'll soon find out why they are called FIRE ANTS!
