The rodeo started at sun set..., Bolivar

brdwtchr Says:  The rodeo started at sun set after the heat of the day was over. My best photos were of the opening ceremony. During the bucking broncos and bull riding competition the sun had gone down and my photos are a little blurred. In spite of bad pictures I had a good time watching...

brdwtchr Says:  I tried Master Wongs. I was surprised how good the food was. I did not see any one in the building who looked like she could be Master Wong. They deliver. Crab Rangoon was very good.

brdwtchr Says:  Evelyn's is a good place for 'down home cookin'.It is usually full of local people at breakfast time. You might make some new friends. Every thing on breakfast menu looked good. I had biscuits and gravy.

Nightlife

Nowhere: Nowhere

Nowhere: Nowhere, Bolivar

t1m0thy Says:  There is not any night life in Bolivar, MO. This town is overseen by the Baptist University. There are no bars or nightclubs. What a boring town!!! This is not a place to have a good time. You would be better to stay north on 65 on the Lake of the Ozarks for a good time....

brdwtchr Says:  I've only had one night off in Bolivar when I was not working. I was lucky to have the rodeo in town that night. This photo is the carnival in front of the rodeo arena.

Tracker boats are a good way to get around on the lakes and rivers of Missouri. You can see Tracker Bass boats at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. The boats are manufactured in Bolivar at this factory in the photograph.
Highways 32 and 13 lead to Bolivar if you are travelling by car instead of boat..

The Thrifty Nickel is available free at places like gasoline stations. It is interesting to look at the paper and see what is for sale in the area. For example there is a gun for sale on the front page. What does that tell you about Bolivar? I also like to look at what prices land and automobiles are going for in an area.

Masters Public Use Area is on..., Bolivar

brdwtchr Says:  Masters Public Use Area is on the shore of Stockton Lake about 10 miles north of Bolivar on highway 32. There are many picnic spots and a ramp to launch boats there. On a Winter day it is not very busy. I did not see a single other car there. My friend tells me even in...

LePetite Gemme Prairie is...

LePetite Gemme Prairie is..., Bolivar

brdwtchr Says:  LePetite Gemme Prairie is valuable because it is one of last bits of undisturbed prairie land in Missouri. It is small but valuable for that reason. Most of this natural preserve consists of a grassy hill. I walked to top of the hill and saw a swooping harrier. Hope to...

brdwtchr Says:  This antique mall is a place my wife and I will stop in to for fun. It is huge and has all kinds of interesting things inside. It is a couple of miles south of Bolivar on 13.

The courthouse is in the heart..., Bolivar

brdwtchr Says:  The courthouse is in the heart of down town area. It is easy to locate so I used it as a reference point for finding some things in Bolivar.

On highway 32 entering Bolivar..., Bolivar

brdwtchr Says:  On highway 32 entering Bolivar from west there is an underpass to drive through. The underpass had a lot of graffiti painted on it. Some local children repainted over the graffiti to make it more attractive. This part shows a map of Missouri on it.
