Shoji Tabuchi has an amazing show (the bathrooms are even better) and The Dixie Stampede is by far the best food and show combo in Branson.
There's so many! Hum... I was six when I first remember going into the cave in Silver Dollar City and it to this day amazes me. Leave a Comment

Visit Silver Dollar city. It is a theme park set back in the 1890s with things to do for evey one in the family. Great food (a little expensive), but you usualy get pretty large portions. They have some awsome thrill rides, live music (very good entertainers), and tons of shops (a little bit of eveything. This is great fun for the family (I take my wife and son several times a year).
I live here so I am still making fond memories. But the lakes are awsome, great trout fishing in Lake Taneycomo, and very good fishing, water sports, or just swimming in Table Rock Lake. Leave a Comment

by brdwtchr Branson started out as a small town that tourists were visiting to explore Marvel Cave. As more and more tourists came more and more things sprang up in the area for tourists to see and do. Now this entire area is some thing of a giant tourist trap. I liked Branson and at same time I hated Branson. It was gaudy and over priced. It is also a beautiful natural area with excellent entertainment. Branson has more to see and do than many cities 100 times as large. I think every one should go to Branson at least once just to make up their own mind about the place. Would I go back to Branson? The answer is, yes. Will I pay to go back? The answer is, no. I am going to wait until some one offers me a free motel room for looking at a time share condo.
At the fish hatchery we saw this bird house with the mother bird feeding her chick. It was mounted on a fence beside a walkway. The best things in life are free. Leave a Comment

by TheFish this is my friend terry, my travelling cow felipe (as in felipe the travelling cow, not as in i have another cow which i leave at home), and me. we have kettlecorn. terry was doing a sketch at silver dollar city, which felipe and i were watching. i was eating kettlecorn. (felipe, not having a mouth, finds it rather hard to eat kettlecorn.) (oh yes, what is kettlecorn? i'm glad you asked. it's popcorn made in a big kettle. it's also sugary and addictive.) terry motioned to me in the middle of the sketch from a balcony above me to throw him the kettlecorn. i did. then he threw it back to me after he'd had some... and we watched as a little trail of kettlecorn flew through the air. how pretty. i made motions at terry to show how upset i was that he'd broken my kettlecorn bag. then he disappeared. (the sketch was still going on) a few minutes later he shows up behind me and hands me a new bag. then he jumped back into the skit, just in time for his line and completely out of breath. understandable as he'd just run all the way down a big huge hill and back up it. the kettlecorn in this picture is the same kettlecorn, in its new bag. we took this picture after the skit was over. The countryside around Branson is very pretty--low mountains, lakes, etc.
The scenery when I was driving into and out of town.

SO MUCH VARIETY OF SHOWS AND SHOPS AND RESTURANTS. MANY PLACES TO STAY OVERNIGHT AS WELL. YOU CAN STAY AROUND THE AREA FOR DAYS, OR WEEKS AND NOT SEE IT ALL.
SEEING THE PASSION PLAY AND HAVING THE ANIMALS WALK UP TH E AISLES RIGHT BESIDE YOU.

If Branson is a trap then the bait originally was Table Rock Lake. It arose as a water impoundment in 1959 and has over 400 miles of winding shoreline south of and paralleling Branson. Originally there were only campgrounds and some homes around the lake, plus the small town. It always continues to grow rapidly: entertainment venues, condominiums, timeshares and just plain hotels and motels try to keep up, and admission fees also keep growing. (There is still lots of land). Most visitors forget the lakes. Being centered between several large cities, whose citizens have few other vacations within reach, expands its popularity. Almost everybody arrives by car and stays several days, so traffic at popular hours increases the feeling of being trapped. If you do not have access to a boat there are some beaches and if all else fails take a ride on the Branson Belle (a Showboat with a fee).
The large beautiful lake which has few admission fees. Leave a Comment
