Shakespeares Pizza: The World's Most Famous Local Pizza

Ask any Columbian about Shakespeares and they'll smile. Shakes is an institution. It's original location just up 9th Street from the University of Missouri makes it a favorite for students and locals alike. Shakespeares is famous for its white and wheat crusts, and its generous portions of quality toppings (for example, their pepperoni is shipped in from "The Hill" in St. Louis, and sliced extra thick by the Shakespeare's staff).

Be sure to look for the can of WD-40 in the refrigerator, and be sure to ask your order-taker why it's there!

Shakespeare's table tents are always being updated, and they provide a pretty good picture of how they deliver an excellent pizza (people DO have them shipped worldwide) while all the time not taking themselves TOO seriously.

If you bring your kids in, make sure they get the attention of the pizza makers, who will throw them a dough ball. And look for the motorcycle up on the shelf...it really IS for sale.

Favorite Dish: Any pizza from Shakes is delicious, but you've GOT to try the pepperoni as one of your toppings.

Chim's Thai Kitchen: The Best Thai Food in the Area

1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The cooking is done in a little kitchen-trailer parked at Cooper's Landing. They take your name and yell for you when your order is ready, so listen carefully, since it can be hard to hear if that evening's musical performance is going well (which it always seems to). Seating is at several picnic tables, on benches and chairs around Cooper's bonfire, or inside Cooper's convenience store if it's too cold and/or rainy. Look up Cooper's Landing for more about the general ambience.

Summer Hours:

Wednesday — Friday 4- 10PM

Saturday noon-11 PM

Sunday noon-8 PM

Closed for winter.

Favorite Dish: I usually get the Pad Thai. My all-time favorite was a one-time special they had on Masaman Curry (not exactly Thai cuisine, but OH so good!) and Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango.

This restaurant is just great. One of our favorites in Columbia. The service is always fast and friendly. And the FOOD! It is just wonderful. My hubby loves the fish & chips, but I love their specials. They even have fresh swordfish and oysters.
You must try this restaurant! You won't be sorry.

Favorite Dish: Swordfish, cracker crusted halibut, crab legs, everything

CC's City Broiler: Great Food, Awesome Ambiance
ScottDarth profile photo
ScottDarth 3 reviews

The original CC's City Broiler is located inside what used to be the Trailways Bus Terminal in Columbia Missouri at 131 S. 10th St. The building has been completely renovated into a first-class restaurant, and the breezeway through which passengers once walked to get to their bus is now an outdoor patio complete with patio heaters to provide comfortable dining even when the snow is falling.

The service you get from the waitstaff is impeccable, and the food is second-to-none.

Favorite Dish: Try any of the cuts of meat with CC's peppercorn sauce, and be sure to savor every bite because you'll be remembering this for a long time.

Seafood lovers will also find fresh seafood, flown in daily from the coast.

Joey's is a new seafood restaurant in Columbia, MO. It is fabulous! We have eaten there twice already. The fish is very fresh and wait until you try their batter. Yummy! Great staff too. Check them out!

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is the cracker crusted halibut. It is unbelievable. Very good taste and the crunchy crust just adds something to it.
